Result of observations on August 30 during 80 degrees pass of the
spacecraft ASTEX, also called (SESP 1971-2) which was designed to test advanced
development payloads. This spacecraft was launched in October 1971 at
a Thor-Agena-D rocket from Vandenberg AFB.
The object definitely has a well-visible elongated shape and all frames
of the session tend to show the elongation, a few frames show some
more detail. Magnitude was 4.1 and with adjusted exposure-time it
could be reasonably captured using the normally used imaging/res-scale
(0.20-0.25''/p). It's not an easy object and strong frame selection
is necessary. Image at right has 50% more color saturation.
