The peaks of the four Tharsis volcanoes appear reddish above the cloud deck.
Again,the Ascraeus cloud is brilliant.
The seeing was fair to poor, since a cold front had just passed.
Humidity was down to 21%,giving me a nosebleed.

It was taken with a Takahashi Mewlon 180mm and barlow 3X. With a DMK camera,Luminance and RGB filters. The seeing was not bad visually, but with more turbulence at the camera..

Paul G. Abel(203mm reflector) | with Patrick Moore's 15" Newtonian reflector in Selsey. Seeing rather variable but some reasonable moments. The main feature is the Syrtis Major and Sinus Sabeus. In the far south Hellas was a brilliant white cap and looked like another polar cap! Some variation in intensity in Syrtis Major- bluish colour seemed to be present. IN the north Boreosyrtis could be seen with Acidalium partially on the fol. limb.
NPC interesting,Lowell band present but the fol part of the cap seemed rather vague and ill defined. It also seemed that the NPC was not as bright as previously.
[Paul G. Abel:Leicester:United Kingdom]
Damian Peach (356mm Celestron SCT) |
Poor to fair seeing on this night. Bright clouds over Chryse/Tempe. Blue Syrtis cloud is prominent again.
