Jupiter some hours ago.Dark spot following oval BA is invisible in IR.Also in IR the Large White Spot in SEB is somehow connected with EZ.

Seeing was okay this evening.
Note the 2nd NNTZ LRS. The NTB is active in this region. Note the small red spot and the bright white spot north of the NTB.
The NEB has lot of complex rifts and outbreaks. The SEB is very dark.

Not done as much as hoped with Jupiter this apparition.
But tonight after getting increasingly good conditions with Uranus
thought I would give the Galileans a go; and was pleasantly surprised to spot a star of
fiery-orange hue then a fainter strikingly contrasting blue companion close south.
This was later identified as Burnham 87: some research today has found the companion's colour variously described as violet all the way to yellow!!
Burnhams Celestial Handbook gives M0 (primary) & A0 (secondary) ("nice colors"),and Skymap Pro 11 K3 & B3.

Jupiter on Jan 4th. Good seeing when the planet reached the meridian.
A nice view of the post GRS turbulent region with the GRS headed off and NNTZ LRS coming on.
