Due to our alarm clock not working we were lucky to get a single capture
before the seeing deteriorated due to the approaching dawn!
However, this was sufficient to obtain an image outcome where 2 bright storm
spots were revealed...we subsequently sent an email to Prof. Ricardo Hueso
from PVOL who confirmed that they were indeed genuine: 2 spots were
identified at low elevation from a team using a 2.2 metre scope on May 17th
& one spot from the HST also...
An alert was not put out because they considered Neptune was still too
difficult a target for amateurs & also an accurate ephemeris had not been
calculated...obviously we are very pleased with our first result for 2016!
I include here the capture scale image..another at 150% scale...& also a
heavily-processed image for greater visibility of these 2 bright spots.
