With the poor seeing prevalent in the UK and low altitude for the planets this year,
I was wondering whether there was any benefit going back to RGB imaging rather than colour imaging which I have been using since the ZWO224MC camera became available.
Last night I conducted an experiment and shot two runs with both set ups a few minutes apart on Jupiter under poor seeing conditions.
Both sets ups used a ZWO ADC tuned with the colour camera in place.
Order was telescope - barlow - ADC then colour camera or filter wheel + mono camera.
All images processed by stacking 30% of frames in AS2! then wavelet sharpening in Registax.
I used WinJupos to de-rotate and combine several R G B images and several colour images. Final similar tweaking in photoshop.
My conclusion is that I shall still continue to image with the ZWO 224MC colour camera.
I did not see any benefit in using the more complex and longer processing required for RGB.
