Protusion atthe south pole by S.Maksymowicz |
I am following the mars data of the alpo section and some images issued by Clyde Foster are intriguing us. This is related to the images issued on the 11th showing 2 protusions on the south pole area. This was observed on the 12th, but also on the 7th. On the 12th, may be an artefact, there is also a thin arc, limb side, out of the planet disk discernable in RGB, G and NIR. This should be investigated even an artefact, we observe on this arc away the protusion a light condensation on this thin arc. It should be interresting to investigate if the solar wind activity reached the planet at those dates. This is looking as aurorea that we saw (not at such locations) years ago. I was on the 12th at the eyepiece but the means were not enough for capturing such and presently no possibility with the C9 the seeing being terribly bad. Asian observers could contribute in order to see for the 7, 11 and 12th if something was on and further. Strange to see that event for long times as days, a week. So highly probably aurorae occurences. Aurorae 12th dec 2018(PDF) [Stanislas Maksymowicz Ecquevilly,France]
