Image set from this morning. Deteriorating conditions(could also be a cooldown problem). R data was reasonable,but G and B were poor.
The large flake that is extending off the GRS is still present and detectable in the RGB despite the poor G and B data.
It shows as a reddish lining to the dark sf collar of the GRS.
It remains prominent in the CH4.
A dark SEBs spot is already in the GRS hollow(1 o’clock),and another substantial SEBs ring is approaching.
A further image set,including two RGB’s,from yesterday,20 May,with this set being two rotations after my morning set.
Conditions were pretty decent,although the IR data was not that good.
I feel I have over processed somewhat,but was again trying to get the best detail out.
A few points of interest:
CH4 image: The large flake is still visible but may be dissipating somewhat.
I suspect that what appears to be a NE extension is actually an independent methane-bright spot
that may be starting to interact with the flake. But not sure.
IR: Interesting diagonal line running across the upper left of the GRS region.
RGB:
- I think the large flake is now showing as a reddish tinge to the dark collar immediately following the GRS
- The red flash in the turbulent region immediately Nf the GRS may correspond to one of the methane-bright spots?
- I believe there is a small flake on the f edge of the GRS(9 o’clock). I’m not expecting it to develop,but we shall see.
- I believe there is a potential new flake forming at the 2’oclock position on the edge of the GRS.
Given that there is already an SEBs ring in the hollow at 11 o’clock,
and the next (very) substantial ring is entering the hollow,and is already being distorted,
I believe this new potential flake may become significant.
- There appears to be a string of quite uniform,small SEBs rings immediately following the large ring entering the hollow. This is followed by a further SEBs dark spot.
I suspect the current interesting activity is not going to go away anytime soon.

There is a very interesting structure that seems to be departing from and curling around the GRS
The red streamer that is apparently peeling out from the GRS can be more clearly seen in this image and reflects that seen in my methane band image.
This streamer is not as apparent in my image where the GRS is at or near the Central Meridian.

Hi all,here are two images of Jupiter from last night showing the GRS
and evolution of the streamer of high altitude cloud attached to it. Due
to clouds and poor seeing only CH4 and IR images were possible.
Hi all,here's the best colour image possible from my location last
night - I ended up having to wait as long as possible (for Jupiter to
get higher) and then use IR as red. It highlights the orange colouration
around the GRS where we can see the progress of the streamers of cloud
associated with the current events

While Io was casting his shadow over Jupiter the seeing was horrible,after about 30 min it stabilized and he got to take some interesting!
