Comment by Makoto Adachi
Mike Hood
Mare Acidarium
Peter Edwars,
Olympus Mons

White clouds activity is slowly expanding. The basin has already begun, but the trend can be seen faintly in other areas.
The importance of blue images has increased. The SPC is getting pretty small. However, due to the cold temperature in
the polar region, the vicinity of the polar region has been covered with a pale white veil for some time. If you look at the polar cap or
behind the polar cap with the SPC facing the earth, you can see that tendency. Inoue's proceeded image and Kumamori's
image show this.
Mike Hood's blue image shows the morning hemisphere covered in wide, pale fog. Even when observed with the naked eye,
the contrast of the pattern appears to decrease as the morning hemisphere approaches the limb. This is probably because it is a
ffected by fog. When using an RGB filter for color composition of three colors,it is difficult to record subtle cloud conditions.
It often disappears in the process of image processing. However,if successful, the fog in the morning hemisphere seems to be easier to see.
James Willinghan's blue image records the Arsia Silva Mons (W120,-3) approaching the terminator. Jean-Luc Dauvergne is filming
Arsia Mons in the morning hemisphere. If you use a filter of 450 nm or less at this position, you should be able to record clouds extending
toward the limb. It's a pity that there isn't a blue image at this position this season.
Marc Delcroix has reported a blue image of the Tharsis volcanic groups. It is an excellent image in which the pattern on
the ground surface is not leaked and the clouds (fog) are recorded in white. According to it,clouds can also be seen in Noctis Labyrinthus
(90W ~ 135W,-10) east of Arsia Mons. When compared with the topographic map,it overlaps with the area of 9000m or more. It will be
interesting to see how high the moon will go down from now on.
The activity of the white clouds near Mare Acidarium is very active.
Many observers recorded a partial change
in limb color. The four people who clearly recorded were Arakawa,Kumamori,Peter Edwars, and Luis Javier Fernandez. This is
found in areas where dust veils are widespread. Near the north of Argyre (30W,-50),north of Olympus Mons (135W,+25),and
west of Argyre. This area has been in a dusty state for some time. Peter Edwars,Jean-Luc Dauvergne,Maximilian Teodorescu and
others have documented this well.

I had very good conditions that sunday morning, which allowed me to get probably my most detailed colored Mars.
Valles Marineris is setting on the limb, and the view on Tharsis dome is superb, with Olympus Mons caldera (and maybe the volcano shadow?),
and the other volcanoes. Blue images show the boreal polar hood, orographic cloouds on Arsia and Pavonis Mons and on other reliefs,
in Nectaris Fossea south of Valles Marineris. It's so good to get good resolution on a planet high in the sky,for a change ... :)

Here is a Mars image from September 13th at 150% capture scale,as well as the individual filter images for the aforesaid, these at capture scale.
For 48ー which is almost the maximum height of Mars here, the seeing & resultant images were very good.
I have also included an annotated disk with features/regions,for the many amateurs who find relating to the typical projection-type maps difficult
when ascertaining exactly what they have captured themselves in their own images - feedback has already convinced me that this is a worthwhile exercise:
I intend to not only revise this map over this 2020 apparition should any anomalies be brought to my attention,
but also (if we are lucky with the seeing) to complete several more to span the entire Mars' global vista.
