Comment by Makoto Adachi

Anthony Wesley's color image records a white cloud to the east of Syrtis Major (293W,+ 0-20). It is very clear that the clouds
cover the eastern half of Syrtis. This is a characteristic figure that can be seen very well with the naked eye. If you treat the light
pattern so that it is not too dark, you can see the position of the dust veil and white clouds from the darkness of the pattern.
The color of the pattern is also important information that indicates the state of the atmosphere. Anthony Wesley's UV image
brilliantly records the clouds above near the Terminator. A circular dark spot is recorded near the center of the terminator
in this image. This is the highlands of Tyrrehena, northeast of Hellas. It is a dark spot formed by thinning the optical thickness
of the atmosphere.
White clouds are still showing around the SPC area today. The part to the south of Argyre is reddish, and the part to the south
of Mare Cimmerium is bluish white cloud recorded under good observation conditions. I think the reddish part is a weak dust blowout
from the SPC.

Some very good seeing this morning on Mars,
here's a true colour RGB image showing Syrtis Major at top,Hellas basin and the South polar Cap at bottom and Meridiani at left.
The crater Huygens is prominent near the centre of the image and Schiaparelli to the left.
The lower right of the image,ie the setting limb, appears partly obscured by dust or haze. Blue cloud is visible at the northern limb.

Through various filters in very good seeing.
I've included a composite RGB image however there is also a lot to see in some of the discrete blue channel images so I've included them as well.
The 425/50 images (400-450nm) show interesting structure when strongly enhanced,
but also in the normal Blue (400-500nm) images there is a feature visible on the setting limb in the early part of the session which was no longer visible after about an hour.
I'm guessing this is dust or some sort of transient cloud.
If you're interested in investigating any of this please let me know and I'll share the raw stacks with you.

More evening clouds over the Tharsis volcanoes. One appears to be projecting slightly beyond the terminator in IR.
I used Firecapture,Registax 5 and Photoshop CS2 for processing.

Here is a report of mars performed last 16th september with the 203mm cassegrain.
Average images until 22H30UT were met then becoming worst.
It was noted at the limb and at the terminator some bright area in different color channels, mostly dusty.
The planet with the naked eye without telescope looked still typically yellowish,
the contrast on planet disk lowered by an overall atmospheric veil.

Attached here a set of images from 16 September. Between clouds session again,
better go to bed atrocious seeing. Visually, darker albedo features seems to be getting darker.

Seeing has been very variable and only a couple of dates have allowed detailedimages to be recorded.
The August 30 image is the best yet.
I have now switched to an ASI 462MC camera,2.7x APM ED barlow
(better coated than the previous barlow with internal reflections evident) and added a 685 nm filter.
The SPC has beenretreating with internal details and ice islands at the rim,
a nearly constant haze has been present at the northern limb,
but no orographic clouds on the dates I have imaged.
No other significant activity seen, such as dust clouds.

Smoke from wildfires reduced transparency to near zero. Only the planets were visible.
