Osamu Inoue

Attached is n observation of Jupiter made last night in good seeing conditions.
The planet is getting low in the west a few hours after darkness arrives
so there is now only about an hour from my location to observe the planet at a reasonable altitude.

- S3TB-SSTB: Both belts present,a small white oval was seen in the SSTB.
- STZ: somewhat yellowish in colour tonight.
- STB: Has a rather fragmentary appearance at these longitudes and certainly isn't a uniform band.
- STropZ: A bright white zone.
- SEB: The SEB(s) has a patchy appearance and is brownish in colour.
The SEBz is dark orange and seems to split into two on the following side of the disk.
The SEB(n) is very thin and greyish in colour.
- EZ: A bright zone which seemed much quieter tonight without much evidence of festoon activity.
The EB was present and yellowish in colour.
- NEB: Still a broad band, some darker sections and evidence of rifting
but the NEB at these longitudes doesn't seem to be as complex compared to the NEB at other longitudes.
- NTropZ: A bright white zone.
- NTB: Suspected; the belt had the form of a very faint bluish line.
- NTZ: Seemed to contain some yellowish colour.
- NNTB: This belt was present tonight it appeared very thin but was strongly brown in colour:
- NPR: To the north of the NNTB there was a lighter region and some fainter greyish markings to the north of this.
I noticed that Io (near the prec. limb) appeared to be quite a strong orange colour tonight.
Jupiter observations concluded at 1916UT.
