A very unsual image of Mercury. After loosing the planet after March 19th to the glare of the sun, I could find it after inferior conjunction at April 1st for the first time, which was exeptionally difficult. First, because the planet was still very slim and only 2,9mag bright at all. Secondly because the sky wasn't perfect with clouds passsing by and a high rate of humidity. I found the planet only by Goto and it was of such low contrast, that imaging nearly got impossible. At last I caught it using a CH4-Filter which gave the most contrast (although camera gamma was still at 1!). Illumination looks bigger than it was due to very bad seeing (see simulation). Image is stacked from only the best ten frames of a 1800 frame video. My most extreme Mercury up to now.
