I managed to run a series of captures this morning under reasonable conditions.
Based on a recent comment by Frank Mellilo, I believe the obvious bright spot may be impact crater Kuiper, which I was able to get glimpses of in the live view.

Excellent Clyde! What a great shot! Yes, you have captured Kuiper rayed crater that comes into view.
Another great news. I imaged Mercury also just about 8 hours after yours. We both imaged the same feature! So, I consider this a nearly simultaneously observation!
Kuiper rayed crater will be seen at least another week before it crosses over the terminator.
Looking forward to more of your Mercury images.
As always, keep up with your great planetary work!
