Attached are two observations of Mars made on the 18th March. We had good seeing and I was able to use a powers of x319 and x460 to examine the Martian disk. The apparent diameter of Mars is now quite small, only 9.2". None the less a number of interesting details were seen on the disk:
Drawing 1: 2051UT
・The evening limb is bright indicating bright clouds were present. Argyre I also seems to be bright.
・The Solis Lacus is rotating into view and both Delphini Portus and Phrixi region quite dark.
・ Erythraeum quite dark ion places, the Aurorae Sinus can be seen and is quite prominent.
・Niliacus Lacus and Mare Acidalium can be seen near the evening limb but both features seem to be a little indistinct and ill defined in places.
・Parts of Tempe are quite bright and Tannais and Nix Tanais could be seen
・Lowell band observed and the North Polar cap was bright white but now smaller than previously.
Drawing 2: 2214UT.
・Erythraeum now on the evening limb and the limb itself is quite bright.
・Solis Lacus now on view and shows some interesting details although no real fine detail due to the small apparent diameter of Mars.
・Aurorae Sinus still visible and still quite dark.
・Niliacus Lacus and Mare Acidalium are setting on the evening limb. Brightness and clouds suspected at the equator.
・Olympus Mons seems to visible as a darker spot near the morning limb.
・North Polar Cap white with Lowell band observed.
