here attached the only decent image I was able to scrap last night. There was a short window of "stability" just sufficent for the IR image.

Another couple of really nice nights here in the South of the UK,with steady seeing. Here are two of my best efforts from nearly 3 hours of imaging whilst watching the GRS rotate on. Lovely views visually too.

Another image from late evening on 15th. GRS just past meridian. Seeing was pretty good - very nice visually, but not as good as previous morning.

10月13日とおなじ経度の画像、BAが見える。15日はさらに気流が良く、BAから前方にたなびく流れが見える。

A set taken under fair seeing. Images worked nicely in long wavelenghts (including CH4)

I don't usually contribute to this mutual emailing list, but I enjoy perusing all the observations and CCD images that are distributed among us.
Just out of interest for all Jupiter fans,I attach a comparison between Paul Abel's Jupiter sketch and my own, made a little while before Paul's.
I am consistently impressed by the detail and range of colour in Paul's observations. I don't think I'm a poor observer (well, nobody's said that to my face!) and I like to think that my visual acuity is slightly above average, and attuned to lunar and planetary work by having made astronomical observational drawings since 1980. But Paul's planetary work now consistently shows an order of magnitude more detail than my own and compares very well with high-resolution CCD imagery.
Best wishes,Peter

Jupiter from the evening of 15th October during some good seeing.
The eyepiece view immediately showed up the two NEB barges then attention was drawn
to the complex region around the GRS. The bright 'worm' visible on 1st
October has nearly gone.

Seeing average - good.

under good seeing. This is an LRGB image using R+G to make the L channel.

Good seeing.

Breezy but great seeing. I dare say this result is on a par with the best results obtained at Barbados...though this from my back garden at home. Some very fine structures visible across the the disk with the GRS just peeping on.

under slightly less excellent conditions than the set i sent yesterday. The GRS is however nicely on.

I decided to use winjupos image computation to construct the attached image which works really well to allow using data over a longer time window (in this case several minutes.) I used two data sets taken in succession (one of which i already sent.) I think aesthetically this is probably the best result of the recent run of nights.
