Alas seeing conditions were appalling. I started on Mars at 2245UT,and I alternated between x250 and x312. Image definition was frequently poor and I would not be at all surprised to learn if the attached disk drawing was hopelessly inaccurate! However, the darker Mare Cimmerium could be made out in the far north- though lacking much of the fine detail which is normally seen. Near the disk centre the bright Elysium region could be seen with a dark streak which was Aetheria. There also seemed to be very bright clouds on the proc. and fol. limb,I also suspected bright clouds in Eridania.
I decided to come in to warm up,but returned to the attack at 0118UT. By then seeing was worse, and at times I was unable to even focus the telescope! It was quite clear that nothing more could be done!

The orographic cloud of Elysium is setting here. Soon we will see it plainly in Europe.
