Well I won't beat about the bush, this evening's observation of Venus have left me somewhat puzzled. A number of interesting things were observed but in less than ideal conditions. Unless there is confirmation then I would regard tonight shenanigans as a artifact of earthly conditions rather than venusian...
Illuminated Disk: A number of subtle greyish features on the disk. There seemed to be a number of dark greyish features as well as a a number of brightish regions.
Unilluminated Disk: Not seen, but SPC did appear to extend onto the night side (see below)
Bright Limb Band: Visible and complete
Terminator: This appeared to be geometrically irregular. There was some dark terminator shading and it is quite possible that the dark shading, combined with the sseing made it look like the terminator was irregular. Interestingly, the effect was more pronounced in a W#47 than in the W#21,IL was about halfway between the two.
Cusp Caps: Both caps present, the NPC seemed to be smaller but brighter, while the SPC seemed to extend into the nightside.
Cusp Collars: Both present and about equal.
Filter Work
1842UT (W#47): In this light the dark shadings are rather enhanced. It seems that there is a large dark marking over the centre of the disk, this is composed of two wind swept columns the northern one probably being the darkest of the two. The SPC extends onto the nightside in this filter. Terminator irregularity appears stronger in this light.
1852UT (W#21): Seeing now dropping off but the view in this filter is very interesting indeed. In this light the terminator is much flatter and the irregularities much less obvious. The SPC extension is also much more subtle. Indeed if this had been my view in IL I should have dismissed the whole of tonight's events as an effect of poor seeing. Image definition now dropping off alarmingly so I abandoned Venus observations at 1902UT.

Finally some quite fine seeing rewarded me with the best detail
resolved in UV so far. Workflow gets better from time to time.
