解説（安達） ヘラス(Hellas;290W,-50)北部からノアキス(Noachis;0W,-40)にかけて、淡 くなった部分が良く目立っている。日本から見える半球は朝霧が良く目立って いる。アキダリウム(Mare Acidarium;30W+50)の上の雲は黄色味を帯びており、 ダストのベールに覆われていることを示している。この様子は森田氏の画像で 良く分る。池村氏の画像ではこのベールがテンペ(Tempe;70W,+45)まで拡がっ ている様子を記録している。南極冠は今日も黄色く見える。マレ・シレナム (Mare Sirenum;160W,-30)付近も、目立った変化は見られない。ペリエ氏の青 画像ではオリンピカ(Nix Olympica;125W,+20)が白く写っており、白雲ができ ているらしい。この様子はカラー画像では良く分からない。 (reported by 23 observers) The part that became light is remarkable well from the Hellas (290W, -50) northern part to Noachis (0W,-40). As for the hemisphere seen from Japan,the morning mist is remarkable well. The cloud on Mare Acidarium (30W,+50) wears a yellowish,and shows the cover with the veil of dust. This appearance is understood well from the image of Mmorita. The appearance where this veil has extended to Tempe (70W, +45) is recorded in the image of Ikemura. SPC looks yellow today. As for the vicinity of Mare Sirenum (160W,-30),a remarkable change is not seen. Nix Olympica (125W,+20) seems to be white,to reflect,and white clouds to be made in a blue image of Cristophe Pellier. seeing was very poor. seeingがたいへん悪くいつまでたってもピントが 合わないので、1/100secにしてみたところ、縁が しっかりと見えたので、1/100で30fps200秒で撮影 しました。 6000フレームなので、１画像の処理に1時間ほど かかりましたが、なんとか画像が得られました。 シャッタースピードをあげてもぼけるような 微細動のシーイングのときは、こんなことをしても 良い画像は得られません。 [T.Ikemura Nagoya Aichi JAPAN] ≪愛知県名古屋市 池村俊彦≫

The result seems to be this bright ringing effect on the inner preiphery which I believe to be artifactual - I wonder if others have had similar experiences? It's a bit different to the usual bright-dark-bright edge ringing. No evidence at all of S polar cap and N polar hood very diminished from 2 weeks ago. Taken with the colour-filtered Toucam in black and white mode.  Here are some images taken in very poor seeing from London. I blame fireworks in large part for the conditions. They are presented both as a JPEG and an animated GIF. The most interesting features are the bright clouds present over the Olympus Mons,Arsia Mons and Ascraeus Mons volcanoes as they approach Martian evening. They are almost equally bright in red,green and blue. The N polar hood on the other hand (at bottom) is intensely blue. I am sending these to a few more people than usual in order to publicise "The Sky at Night" programme on BBC1 TV this Sunday (tomorrow) at 11.50 pm,which will be about Mars and feature some of my images,along with some by other observers on this list,and an interview with Richard McKim,director of the BAA Mars section. A set of Mars images taken last night from the Eastern UK,is attached. The first clear night without high winds since Oct 16th. Mare Sirenum/Amazonis on the meridian with Solis Lacus right on the evening terminator. Seeing was very poor. Orion Optics 245mm f/6.3 Newt + 5x Powermate projected to ~8x = f/50. 0.12 arcsecs/pixel (7.4 micron pixels). Lumenera LU 075M + Red,Green & Blue filters. Temp. +7 C *Horrendous* dew. Transparency fair. Some drifting cloud. Captured/converted with Streampix. Processed with Registax 3/Maxim DL/PSPro 8. Further details on the image.
Dopo qualche giorno di sosta forzata,ieri sera ho avuto modo di riprendere l'attivita di "sorveglianza" marziana..... Rientrato abbastanza presto a casa,dopo diverse sere di cielo nebbioso,ho ripreso il pianeta rosso nonostante una trasparenza non ottimale. Il seeing in compenso era di tutto rispetto e il risultato e meglio di quanto mi aspettassi. Per le statistiche,ho notato che il seeing variava quasi regolarmente con un periodo piuttosto breve diciamo sui 4-5 minuti.... passando da un 6 scarso a periodi di 7-8..... Sempre strano questo meteo,quando finiremo di capirlo? Saluti e buon week-end a tutti!

But the most interesting question I think is,is there a cloud over Olympus or not ? Damian's latest images disagree with the idea it seems,while mine pretend the contrary... Olympus is bright in blue and violet,and in RGB is white,not only "bright". Let's wait for more data. Another remark is about visibility of surface markings in blue : the reddish area such as Vahalla are no longer dark in B. Several weeks from opposition,they were very dark,while the usual grey marias where almost or totally unseen. The albedo of surface markings in blue light has a strange behavior which doesn't only depend on atmospheric transparency but also on geometry,as seen from Earth. Quite interesting and curious...
