朝方の天候が悪く、木星が見れません。よって久しぶりに土星を観測しました。
寒気が緩むとすぐ霧が発生します。透明度が悪く、２１時過ぎには観測条件が
極端に悪くなってしまいました。
変化はないようです。

ゲインが普段よりも良くない。撮像当初、透明度が良くないのでそのせいかと思っていたが、透明度が改善してきてもゲインは下がるいっぽうなので、おかしいと気づいた。露が酷く鏡筒も結露で覆われ始めたので斜鏡への露が着いたのではないかと調べた。案の定、斜鏡の表面には露が付いていたが、光軸はきちんと出しているため斜鏡周りを触るのは嫌で、そのまま撮像を続行した。
モニター上で見ると南極周辺(SSTZ)が更に赤みを増してきたように思う。容易に赤みが確認出来るが、季節変化に伴うものなのかなと考えながら撮像をした。結露のためカラーバランスが狂い処理には手間取ったが、やっぱり良くないですね。３枚目の画像のEZに白斑(White Spot)らしきものが写っているようにも思われるが、シーイングがベストでないし、色調も普段とは異なっているので確信はもてない。

模様の確認がしやすいように動画をつくりました。SEBには白斑らしきものの移動が確認できます。EZの白斑は微妙で画像処理によるEZの輝度の増加の結果のようでもあります。しかし、画像処理によるものならEZの中央子午線付近のコントラストが最も上がるのが普通ですが、今回のものはEZの右側にあるため白斑かなとも考えてしまいます。シーイングの良いときにこの付近を再撮像しなくてはと思います。

Seeing conditions were regular 5/10 and transparency good, about visual magnitude 4 to 5.

The attached Saturn image was taken on February 8 using 4 AVI files, each 3 minutes duration. The final stack was 2000 frames out of a total of 7200. A 2 degree wedge prism was used to correct for atmospheric dispersion as planet was only at 35degrees elevation (maximum for Perth).

Damian Peach (235mm Celestron SCT:ATK-1HS camera)

Here are some images from February 8th. Seeing was quite good, but poorer than the previous night. Again little is seen in way of dark or bright spots, though there is perhaps a faint one seen in the last three red images in the mid SEB.
I also note the ring system is somewhat brighter on the f.side than the p.side notably in Red (a slight colour assymetry appears in the colour images.)
Christophe Pellier recently mentioned to me the notable lack of white spots occuring at -40 latitude. Indeed, these spots seem to have been completely absent for some months now.
The large image is a normal processing of the 20:45 UT image.

9.25" (23.5 cm) Celestron SCT @ f/39.5 ATK-1HS CCD camera + RGB filters.
Seeing good (Pickering 6-8.) Wind W (0-5mph.) Eq Diam=20.2" Altitude=49-55 degs.
