The sky was overcast at around 8:30pm local time. I was about to give up but when I went out around 9:00pm,there was a clearing. Seeing was excellent but transparency was variable. I had to stop after 9:50 because the clouds came back.
I had to image tonight because Georg Fisher made an alert that the SED had been detected by Cassini. True enough, the dragon storm is back and it's very bright! There is even a dark "wake" that seem to be associated with the SED.
Titan is above Saturn. On the 15th this month,it will transit the SPR of Saturn. This will occur between 11-14UT. This will be a double transit with Tethys. As a bonus, the SED will be just north of Titan during this event!!

Once again I was graced with good planetary observing conditions, and I spent many hours (with some gaps) observing Saturn. As conditions were good,I was able to use a combination of higher powers,250x,312x and 400x to see some fine details on the disk. I was able to make two disk drawings and some intensity estimates.
Globe: Still Saturn's features appear to be muted. The SPR was dusky and vague, and the STZ was slightly dimmer and greyer than the STropZ. I initially thought that the STB was present, but I am now inclined to think that this may have been a contrast effect between the brighter STropZ and dimmer STZ. SEB(N) fairly easy to see and a rusty brown colour. Some suggestion of SEB(S) at higher powers.
EZ(S) yellow and not as bright as the whiter EZ(N). AT 400x,I was able to glimpse a faint EB above the ShRG. NEB the darkest feature (apart from shadows) on the disk. Both edges- the NEBn and NEBs were dark, and sections of these edges were the darkest features on the disk. In general, everything north of the NEB was vague and ill-defined,there did however appear to be a brighter zone just above the NPR,the NTZ presumably?
Rings: Very shallow now. Cassini Division glimpsed at 312x. A-Ring grey at ansae edges. O sign of the C-Ring tonight. ShGR observed. Titan visible under the rings as shown in the two disk drawings.
