The jet has been parked over Broken Hill for some considerable time and we have had a lot of rain over the last month. May 27th was the last time I imaged the long lived dark oval.
Last night it was clear for a change so I was able to target the dark oval very early in the evening. The seeing was poor and quite fast with considerable distortion of the CD. Fortunately the dark oval was close enough to the CM that it is resolved in R & RGB in spite of the gyrations from the jetstream.
I have attached 1 R, & RGB data set along with their polar projections, the dark oval is slightly toward the P limb of the CM. It is best seen in the R channel data but is also discernible in the RGB and is seen in both polar projections. I note a rather bright band surrounding the polar hex. If that bright band persists, given good seeing, it should assist nicely in defining the polar hex.
Have also attached my updated drift chart for the dark oval.
