For the first time in 12 months SED's have been detected at Saturn. I imaged Saturn July 14th targeting the predicted region which also coincided with the long lived dark oval.
The long lived dark oval,by coincidence, was originally spawned in the turbulence behind the head of the Great Storm first detected Dec 5th/6th 2010 by Cassini RPWS.
I had clearing cloud scudding through when the target L3 was best positioned which effected my normal capture routine so I only have 1 single RGB data set from that time. Later the cloud cleared but by that time the SED's source had rotated further around.
Have attached a single, over processed R channel which resolves the bright spot, well in fact, not that bright in my data due to the varying degrees of cloud that I shot through. Have also attached an animation of single R channels with the spot marked in.
Have also attached R,RGB & 742nm IR data sets from after the cloud cleared which nicely resolves the long lived dark oval and provided a nice data point for my drift chart.
