My attention was drawn to the equatorial region.
In both images, a bright feature can be seen in the equatorial region preceding(left of) the CM. 
It appears to consist of two adjacent main parts, one in the dark band and one in the light zone.
In the IR it appears that a thin light line extends preceding the lower spot(in the dark band)
