Imaged Saturn August 29th in good seeing; have rather nice depth of detail from limb to limb. The vertices of the North Polar Hexagon are well resolved as is the North Polar vortex. There is interesting structure within the NPR at all wavelengths. Of particular note is a compact dark spot on the southern edge of the NPR this is very near to a bright spot within the NPR. The structure within the NPR noted from Aug 22nd is still seen. The thin concentric bright and dark bands are most prominent in the R data. The parallel dark linear features remain within the EZ and the thin bright linear feature in the NEB very near the border of the EZ remains prominent. The animations reveal significant depth of detail, the movement really is key to picking out this detail. Saturn’s atmosphere may not be as flamboyant as Jupiter’s but in good seeing there is still much to see albeit in a more subtle manner.
