Comment by Makoto Adachi
Sinus Sabaeus

In Japan,I could observe near Meridiani from Syrtis Major. This Southern Hemisphere is very dusty. In Sinus Sabaeus
(320W~350W,-10),the part that looks dark differs slightly depending on the day. Dust in the Southern Hemisphere appears to have
a border around this latitude. The size of Mount Mitchell is getting smaller.
Mr. Richard Bosman,Mr. Mike Hood and
Mr. Gary Walker have nicely documented the effects of an edge dust storm on the edge of an SPC. All three record this situation
with a blue image. Since it can be seen well in the blue image,it is a new appearance, just after it occurred. Mr. Mike Hood's image
shows that the area around Hellas is covered with yellow dust, but to the east of that, this yellow area is not formed. Ausonia (W235~
270,-55~-20) and Eridania (200~230W,-35~-55) are not yellow and show the color of the desert and the dust is clearing.

I had good seeing and a nice transparent sky,and the view of Mars was really sharp in the better periods of seeing.
The contrast over the whole disc was again very low,and the general hue of the planet is,to my eye a little more yellow-ochre than normal.
The 'eye' of Solis Lacus was just about possible to discern out of the darker maria surrounding it,but it was extremely hard to see,and by no means easy or obvious.
On the central meridian Phasis and Vorticis were easier and made a good way-marker for referencing the position of the other features.
I noted a detached / protruding SPC fragment at around 170°,in addition to bright clouds reaching down from the cap towards Electris (at 180°) and Argyre (at 50°)
The SPC itself was yellower in tone than the NPH which was almost blueish-white.
Limb brightening extending up the morning limb from the NPH was bright white, but faded to yellow-ochre the further south round the limb I looked, adding the dusty appearance of the planet.
In the Northern Hemisphere I was just about able to make out very faint and subtle markings which seem to correspond well with the positions of the Tharsis Montes and Olympus Mons.
Again these were very subdued indeed and only glimpsed during the best moments.

Clouds everywhere but tried to forecast a mini cloud break using satellite imagery at dawn. Just 1 quick image.
Was able to see all the macro features visually in the telescope.

We see Valles Marineris,Solis Planum. Volcano Olympus Mons can be seen slightly.
Two images, including the normal size when recording the avi.

This image of Mars features Terra Cimmeria. The seeing was good and transparency fair.

Elysium well placed near the CM in these images. The volcano is free of cloud.
