日本からはMare Tyrrhennum (220W~280W,-40~0)付近が観測できた、Hellasの北東側にダストの広がった地域がある。Stack only
の画像だと、その様子がよくわかる。淡いので、強調処理をすると、下の模様が出てきて分かりにくくなってしまう。荒川氏の画像は、
模様に重なったダストの様子がよくわかり大変参考になる。8月8日にSPCの縁で起こったエッジダストストームのダストが、北西に
移動してきた様子がこの画像によって分かる。Mare Cimmerium (W180~W250,-40~0)やMare Tyrrhenum (220W~280W,-40~0)が
右斜めの帯状のダストによって切れているように見えている。皆川氏の画像にも、小さいながらその様子が見られる。また、色合いの
違いもよく記録されている。
荒川氏の赤画像にはチェック模様が写っているが、ほかの観測者でも記録されている。
柚木・大杉・井上・山口氏の画像にも出ている。
また、経度は違うが、Mike Hood氏の画像にも見られる。火星面は左上がりの模様が多い。エッジダストストームはダストが模様の
見え方を左右するが、風そのものは右下がりに進む。この事実と、相反する現象だとは思えない。今回の筋模様は、SPCの縮小期に
いつも観測されている。
From Japan,the area near Mare Tyrrhennum (220W~280W,-40~0) was observed,and there is a dusty area to the northeast
of Hellas. The Stack only image shows that very well. Since it is light,the pattern below appears when it is emphasized,
making it difficult to understand. Mr. Arakawa's image clearly shows the appearance of dust that overlaps the pattern. This image
shows that the dust from the Edge Dust Storm that occurred at the edge of the SPC on August 8 was moving northwest.
Mare Cimmerium (W180~W250,-40~0) and Mare Tyrrhenum (220W~280W,-40~0) seem to be cut by the diagonally right
slanted dust. Mr. Minagawa's image is small,but dust can be seen. Also,differences in color are well recorded.
Mr. Arakawa's red image has a check pattern,but it is also recorded by other observers. It also appears in the images
of Mr. Yuki,Osugi,Inoue,and Mr. Yamaguchi. Also,although the longitude is different,it can be seen in the image of Mr. Mike Hood.
On the surface of Mars,there are many patterns rising to the left. In the Edge Dust Storm,the dust affects the appearance of
the pattern,but the wind itself moves downward to the right. I don't think it is a phenomenon contrary to this fact.
This streak pattern is always observed during the shrinking period of SPC.

Once more we had some excellent seeing conditions here last night,although the skies themselves were rather hazy.
I did plan a Perseid watch- but the skies became to hazy and in the event,I only observed one Perseid. Later on,
Mars was an excellent sight- my 12" Newtonian gave some splendid views of the fine details on the Martian disk:
- SPC continues to shrink- the cap seemed much brighter towards the morning limb of the planet.
- Argyre was fairly distinctive as was the Mare Australe.
- Solis Lacus showed a great deal of structure- the Ganges was a fine delicate streak passing down towards the north.
- Erythraeum showed a good deal of structure- I'm not sure that I managed to record it all!
- Chryse didn't seem to contain any clouds.
- Niliacus Lacus visible to the far north.
- The morning limb of the planet was rather brilliant and slightly bluish in colour towards the north.
Probably one of the best views of Mars I've had in decades!

木星を撮っていたら、曇りましたが、処理して報告した後、晴れていました。
視直径が大きくなり、低空でもかなり細部が写りました 北極には、霞があるようです。

雲の消長が激しく、ごく短時間しか撮影できませんでした。

眼視(415X)では色が8/11(UT)よりも少し黄色がかって見えましたが、観測地付近の空の透明度などが影響しているのかもしれません。
≪埼玉県越谷市 遠藤宏次≫[Koji Endo : Saitama Japan]
雲が頻繁に通過している。晴れ間はそこそこ広いから、観測はできるが位置などが正確につかめない。
この位置は、形を正確に決めて描くのが非常に難しく、接近のたびに苦労するところで、今日も最初の2枚は納得できる位置ではなかった。
最後の3枚目になって、ようやく安定した位置で描くことができた。
SPCの左側にエッジダストストームの影響が観測できたのは成果であった。

This is my first observation of Mars in this apparition,
and also the very first submission of my Mars image to ALPO-Japan!
Seeing wasn’t that good but the great Syrtis Major welcomed me! Visually,
the contrast of the albedo markings was rather high than I had expected.
Feel some yellowish tint along the limb：considerable amounts of airborne dust still remain?
