This evening the atmosphere calmed down for a short period of about 30 minutes and
I was able to take advantage of the opportunity before the sky was completely covered with clouds.
The planet shows many interesting formations, from the evident base of Mount Olympus with the nearby mountains of the Tharsis area,
to Solis Lacus on the left edge,to the Mare Sirenum, dark in the center of the image,to get to the usual clouds above Arsia Silva
and the South pole now very small.
I don't know if the instrument I used to obtain this image,a 36 cm F5 newtonian,
will be able to offer me even better images of this planet, for sure this is my best shot of this opposition.
To obtain it,I shot 10 2-minute videos, the results of which were rotated by WinJupos to be able to add them.
Aesthetic refinements then performed with Photoshop.

Had only 2-3 minutes of sudden cloud break to work with but seeing was decent during that brief time.
Short barlows + ADC combo is better than long barlows, and am trying not to let Registax auto color balance recently
(two mistakes I made this apparition).

Olympus and Elysium were brightly yellowish near the morning limb and evening terminator on Oct 10,
and orographic clouds over Tharsis are becoming more widespread and brighter in the evening.
The NPH has varied considerably in extent, especially large over M Acidalium on Sep 19,
and morning hazes are thin and close to the limb.

Manos Kardasis
under very good conditions. Clouds over the volcanos and a thiner belt around the equatorial area.
A smal south polar cap is well viewed on the polar map.

in very good to excellent seeing.
Lots of clouds in the Tharsis area near the terminator. Olympus Mons dominates the upper-right quadrant:
there is a very small whitish cloud on top of it!

Note the clouds in the Blue images: a lot of activity compared to just a month ago.

Apart from the northern polar hood clouds,it does appear that there are a few more clouds at lower latitudes.
We are gradually heading towards cloudier times in coastal NSW,
but fingers crossed I'll get a few more Mars images while it so big and close!

Around Tharsis with a lot of clouds and their evolution. There is also a cloud over the Olympus Mons.

We continue our "special project" this apparition of creating annotated disk maps of Mars as opposed to the projection maps that are everywhere on the internet...
we do this because we feel that (especially for AA imagers) it is an excellent "ready reckoner" when people are imaging & want a quick appraisal of what they are viewing onscreen & after processing of their captures, encouraged by feedback from numerous people agreeing such presentations are worthwhile.
Here we see the Valles Marineris central in Mars view,as well as other adjacent regions in annotated & un-annotated 150% of capture scale images,as well as the rgb & individual filter captures at 100% (capture) scale. Some maps re-annotate features but only as references when another image in the series shows similar features. ;)
