An unexpected set from this morning.
The last few days my primary focus has been on the upcoming Europa-stellar occultation on Sunday morning,
co-ordinating a small team in South Africa, and working with the team lead in Namibia,
who has come down from Europe, and I only had one objective this morning:
To test capture settings on the star that will be occulted.
I had no expectation of planetary imaging as there was severe jet stream overhead.
But after the tests (successful- all looks good!),
I had a quick look at Jupiter and thought it may be worth collecting data.
Oval BA is at lower left with WS6 having passed the CM. The extended hot spot in the NEBs is impressive in the IR.

I keep monitoring the planet in methane light from my new observing site (not far from Turin),
despite the abysmal seeing conditions I am experiencing these days.
No noteworthy detail is visibile on the disk.

I had crazy conditions today. When I woke up,the sky was mostly clear.
Set up my system, and when I was ready to image, the sky was overcast!
I gave up but after taking down everything, the sky cleared again!
Set up again, took some images before the sky really became overcast.
Seeing was excellent today. Though transparency was poor.

Note the wavy pattern on the NEB due to the interaction of the white anticyclones
and the alternating red cyclones. The EZ looks very turbulent.
A lot of features can be see up to the poles

貴重な梅雨の晴れ間でしたが、前回(6/12)とほぼ同じ経度で、シーイング/透明度もほぼ同じだったので、
うりふたつのスケッチになってしまいました。
違いといえば、ガニメデの影がないということだけです

More pretty disappointing conditions,
haven't had much seeing luck from this winter week of clear skies where we weren't right under the jetstream.
IR & CH4 are better than the RGBs,and there are some nice dark waves in the EZ in the CH4.
One of the cyclonic white ovals in the SSTB is pretty big too.
The second RGB and IR are pretty much on sunrise, conditions were deteriorating.
Clear skies,

Here are some Jupiter images from the 17th and 18th.
The morning of the 17th had the planet sat in a dense area of high clouds under a very bright sky.
Getting anything of use was near impossible.
