衝の2日前の木星です。夕方曇っていましたが、22時過ぎて晴れてきました
シーイング、透明度ともに良好で細部が写りました。

9日ぶりの観測です。
STrBが木星面を東西に貫いています。STBよりも濃く、SEBsに匹敵しています。
よじれたようなdetailがありますが、描くことができません。
NEBには二重になったリフトが見えました

Cloud was forecast to come around 9pm last night but it held off long enough for me to make these captures on Jupiter,
although the UV run was cut short. Nevertheless the seeing was only fair.

Near opposition Jupiter,but in pretty poor seeing. Oddly,the methane was excellent,with details all the way to the polar hoods,
while the RGBs were disappointing and the IR was completely unusable just a few minutes earlier than the methane!
I’ve included an image/map combination from 3 methane images over the past two days.
The rather delicate north polar hood has an unusual shape just now.
Instead of being more or less circular around the north pole,
there's a large lobe extending perhaps 12deg south at Sys III longitudes 40-80deg.
It’s quite striking in my methane image today.
I've mapped the pole with my two methane images from the 24th Sept as well.
The boundary of the polar hood has several large waves in it,
with a smaller 5deg deep second wave between about 290-330deg,near a small oval.
There may be another large wave on the boundary of the image about Sys III 150deg,
with a darker band extending in to it,but I'd need to locate other methane images to check that.
All a bit reminiscent of Rossby waves in Earth's atmosphere.
