Hi all, here are images of Jupiter from last night in reasonable seeing.
Conditions were variable with the IR600 data probably recorded in the best seeing.
The colour image shows a lot of turbulent activity in the North and South Equatorial Belts.
The two white spots in the south are interesting because they are very different in nature.
If you compare them in the CH4 image you see one is bright - ie comprised of high altitude clouds -
and the other is dark indicating that it's a hole in the clouds.
The CH4 image also shows the high altitude hazes over the north and south poles as well as some bright
(high altitude) storms and turbulent activity in the Equatorial Zone.
Once again the new QHY camera shows it's increased sensitivity and low noise in the IR600 and CH4 images,
these were recorded @ 30fps unbinned.

Its just over a month since I left South Africa to settle in Namibia.
Its been an incredibly intense and stressful last 6 months as we prepared for,and finally executed the move,
which logistically,in my opinion, went exceptionally well.
Since arriving in Namibia, the intensity remained as I have still had quite a bit to sort out
(Namibian ID,vehicle registrations, etc, and just trying to get some order back in our lives).
It was also not easy to only have communication via cellphone, with a poor signal on the farm,
a major reason why I have been so quiet! Thankfully on Wednesday we had the satellite internet system installed,
so I am afraid I am going to start bothering everyone again!
Most of the critical items are now behind us,and I am at last feeling that I am able to relax a bit.
Looking forward to our dogs and cat arriving on Tuesday.
Over the last few days,I have managed to set up a temporary arrangement for the C14
and spent a bit of time out under the wonderful Namibian skies last night.
It will obviously take some time to see what the average conditions are like here.
Having cleaned the corrector plate last weekend,
I still need to spend a bit of time on fine tuning the collimation and also the polar alignment,
but a step at a time.
I am very much looking forward to renewing my involvement in the planetary community-I have really missed it!
It may still take a bit of time to get into a proper routine again,
but I hope to be churning out regular images soon.

Hello all, last month I completed the main construction of my 2nd observatory "Pelagia-Eleni" that hosts my old C11 telescope,an ED80,
a ZWO290mm Camera and a set of filters for a variety of observations
(low-res planetary imaging, moon and solar eclipses, search for Moon & Jupiter impacts, occultation of stars by asteroids, exoplanets, variable stars etc).
The opening ceremony took place on Oct.30th with the participation of all contributors of the construction:
