Although I had some decent seeing a bit earlier,as I moved onto Mars things went downhill quickly. Hellas and Syrtis Major remain in view. The IR is probably the most useful,again showing some brightness gradients in Hellas. Weather looks clear over Curiosity rover.

My first observation of Red Planet in this apparition, with disc only at 7", in full daylight. Syrtis Major and Hellas transiting at CM.

Mars from the morning of July 3rd in daylight conditions (about 2 hrs after meridian).
This observation confirms dark detail in the south polar cap as seen yesterday.
Some haze in the eastern half of the planet.
