Once again in a rare break in the weather the seeing was superb for the whole night and morning.
It goes without saying that the altitude of Mars was low at ~ 32 degrees, but that will be the case for my location for much of the next decade. Nevertheless,to achieve this resolution at an apparent diameter of 12.8 arc secs, augurs well for future imaging.
I used the IR 642nm BP image as Luminance at a 70% level. This dramatically lifted the definition of the albedo areas and I later corrected the colour.
This is one of the iconic faces of Mars, with the outlandish Syrtis Major on the f side of the Central Meridian jutting north. To its south is the very bright Hellas Basin. Its brightness suggests that the dust that encumbers it is not so thick as to obscure it completely. In fact the borders of Hellas are clearer than when I imaged Mars a week ago. Perhaps the regional dust storm is abating or the more concentrated areas are moving around. Dust streamers can, however,be seen to be moving north of the Hellas Basin. On its p side the dust is thicker in the Mare Hadriacum area. There does seem to be some darker or perhaps just less thick dust clouds spreading over Syrtis Major and Mare Tyrrhenum.
To the north and on the p side of the tip of Syrtis major the darker Alcyonius Nodus is resolved.
To its north Utopia Planitia is obscured by blue-white clouds around the north polar region. However,it can be readily seen in the IR 642nm BP image, where the infrared light penetrates the obscurity. Given the IR and LRGB images have the same time stamp I produced an animation where the ability of the IR image to resolve features obscured in the LRGB image can be readily appreciated.

Average seeing on Oct 09. Seeing and transparency have been very bad since my last contributions.
Dust activity is seen over Ophir/Candor and Argyre (arrows in z'-s' filtered image).
An IR685 animation is added to depict dust event rotation with the planet.

Here are images from the past two nights showing bright dust cloud over Noachis-Argyre and a dusty veil over Mare Acidalium.
Conditions were once again inferior - on Oct 9,seeing was poor, and on Oct 10,the seeing was good but a strong and gusty wind which caused Mars to pinball around the frame - glad I got anything at all. But great to catch the dust, always interesting!

Here is a Mars report performed last 9th october under poor images with the CC154mm.
However in spite of the conditions,it was noted:
- This ocre color band in south hemisphere from Hellas to argyre,
- the confidential Syrtis Major near the terminator,
- the whitish north hood at the pole.
I wait better conditions for confirming.
