After a string of cloudy mornings and a session yesterday that I had to write off due to atrocious seeing conditions,
I had clear skies this morning albeit with strong jet stream. I limited myself to R and IR captures.

Just discovered how rare an Iapetus transit is while playing with Winjupos. The next transit will be on July 17.
After that the next transit will not be visible until 2052!! For this image below I derotated only 4 sets of RGB (1m per channel).
And to think today I was hell bent to just imaging Jupiter but Saturn was just so tempting today because of the excellent seeing!
Condition had been terrible during the last few days. The sky finally cleared today! Seeing was perfect!
I had a big surprise when I applied wavelets to the images,
a dark shot showed up! I didn't know that a satellite of Saturn would happen now even though the rings aren't edge on yet.
After consulting Winjupos and with Almir Germano's suggestion,it is a very rare transit of Iapetus!
The excitement really woke me up as my brain wasn't fully functioning this early!
With the HDR image below,a lot of low contrast details can be seen.

after a long period I finally was able to capture the rare transit of Japetus.
Seeing was decent but transparency very poor,I had to sum many images to reduce the noise.

Hello 〓 despite a most forbidding forecast of rain,
clouds & strong winds the actual seeing was quite good - when we could actually record in the gaps between the constant clouds.
“About” five captures were completed although only 2 of these had the expected number of frames to work with…most contained
between a quarter & a half that number of frames with actual images in them, the rest of each capture showing blank frames because of the clouds.
Iapetus is revealed as a pale disk 〓 not visible in the feeds but clear in the sharpened stacks…here is an image showing Iapetus & 3 other moons
(a WinJUPOS integration of the 2 “best” stacks) plus a simple 2-frame animated sequence where Enceladus & Tethys are also seen.
I thought it worthwhile to submit a somewhat longer animation of the rare Iapetus transit of Saturn on April 29th・his a 5-frame animation
(reversing) where the 2nd frame is actually a WInJUPOS integration of the first & second capture frames to make it slightly smoother.
(there was a long interval between these 2 captures)
Hello once more ・I thought it worthwhile to also send the individual images that make up the 兎xtended・animation I sent yesterday of this somewhat historic event.
