Neptune Image 2023/09/15(UT)

last night there was some reasonable seeing here so I spent some time on Neptune and captured a bright spot close to the south pole using a 600nm longpass filter. With my camera this would be effectively something like 600-850nm due to the natural dropoff in sensitivity of the cmos sensor.

The images are heavily contrast-enhanced and a bit noisy and adversely affected by seeing conditions but there are common elements to all of them that suggest real features:
- A bright spot close to the south pole
- Possibly (?) a second white spot just above the bright one,but not as clear.
- Vague suggestions of equatorial cloud belts can be seen in in a couple of the images,showing as light/dark stripes that align with the planets orientation as shown in the inset.
For reference I've included the 4 separate images showing Triton,with it's visibility enhanced to make it easier to see.
