Please find attached an observation of Saturn made last night. Conditions were very good- in general AI-II but with long steady moments in what I can only describe as 'mountain top seeing' where there wasn't a single undulation in the image. At powers of x230 and x319 Saturn showed a lot of details:
Globe:
-STB and SEB both seen, bluish in colour.
-The STropZ had a greenish tint to it
-The EZ(S) seemed to be marginally darker than the EZ(N). A thin equatorial band can be seen in EZ(N)
-NEB again broad and the darkest feature on the planet. The NEB(S) was the darker, well defined feature with a lighter NEBz. The NEB(N) could also be seen but was much thinner and fainter than the NEB(S).
-NTB and NNTB seen, the NTropZ and NTZ in particular also contained a greenish tint.
Rings:
-A-Ring was brownish grey,it's outer 1/3 seemed to be darker than the rest of the rings.
-Cassini Division black and well seen.
-B1-Ring bright and white in colour. B3 reing was also clearly defined.
-C-Ring seemed to contain a yellowish glow to it tonight. ShRG seen and black in colour.
Two satellites shown in the drawing are Rhea (left) and Tethys (right). Mimas was close to the rings and was due to transit later but could not be seen. Intensity estimates taken at 2223UT.
