観測に入るのが遅れた。シーイングが良かっただけに残念だった。表面には目立った変化はない。

Under average images,sometimes good.
A cloud / veil at the terminator was there, especially brilliant when using the red W23A and yellow W12 filters.
Feature noted (1) on the sketch.

We had some excellent seeing conditions here for much of the evening on 24th March and I made three drawings of Mars. In the third drawing I used a W80A light blue filter to confirm the existence of a complete equatorial band covering the equator of the Martian disk.
The Martian disk is now getting quite small at 8.7" but there were a number of points of interest on the disk which could be discerned:
・There was brightness on the evening limb extending into Noachis and Argyre I suggesting the presence of white clouds.
・Pandorae Fretum were not particularly distinct but Deucalions Regio was brighter than Sinus Sabaeus and could be seen separately.
・Sinus Sabaeus was a dark prominent feature ending in Sinus Meridiani.
・Mare Erythraeum becoming increasingly more visible as the night continued- the region was darker in the south with dark patches in places.
・Margaritifer Sinus was dark and well seen- as usual there was a the usual streak extending from Margaritifer Sinus and Oxia Pal joining Acidalium.
・Bright clouds seem to be present in Chryse and in IL there were clouds on the morning limb into Chryse and on the evening limb into Aeria. In the W80A a complete equatorial cloud band was seen.
・Niliacus Lacus and Acidalium seen, although not quite as well defined as in previous apparitions.
・There seemed to be a bright patch between Acidalium and the Lowell band.
・Northern Polar Cap well seen and white in colour.
