Poor conditions with some cloud this morning.
The rings can barely be made out in the enhanced view.
I spent some time whilst capturing data looking at the Winjupos description of the declination figures. Declination of the sun is now 0.2 deg, and two important upcoming dates are May 4th, when this will drop to 0 deg, and May 19th, when it first goes negative (-0.1 deg), and I assume the underside of the rings will become illuminated and more visible.
Two figures are quoted for Earth declination. The first figure (-1.6 deg) is the declination of the Earth as seen from Saturn, whilst the second figure (-1.9 deg) is the planetographic latitude of the centre of the planet as seen from Earth. To be honest, I am not sure why these two figures should differ, but will look into the matter a bit more closely. I guess the main relevance would be when the rings are exactly edge on when observed from earth.
Just a correction to my submission of this morning. The solar declination will go negative (-0.1 deg) on 10 May, not the 19th May.
