After 30 years of amateur astronomy I finally managed to see a transit of Titan. Conditions were not good, there was frequent passing cloud and seeing was only average at best. Nevertheless, I was able to see Titan pass on to the disk. One thing I did notice, just to the left of Titan there seemed to be a bright spot (see drawings 2 and 3). Rhea was in transit but much further away so I'm unsure if this was a contrast effect or a real bright spot in the EZ. Also:
The Globe:
ESPR: A vague greyish region- no sign of a SPB.
ESSTB-STB: Two light brown belts visible, the regions around them still retain a subtle greenish tint.
ESEB: A broad band and again I could see two components although the SEB(N) was the darkest
EEZ: A light zone and there seemed to be an EBV in the EZ(S) and the ShRG can be seen in the EZ(N)
ENEB: Another broad band with two components. Titan can be seen moving along the NEB(S).
ENNTB-N3TB: Two faint belts that seem to have a bluish colour to them.
ESPR: A vague region again with little detail.
The Rings: These are very narrow now but there is a faint dark patch in the rings which indicate the Cassini Division. The rings appear to be of uniform thickness and I observed no condensations along the ansae.
By 2125UT the planet was getting low to the roofs and the seeing became quite impossible and observations were concluded.
