<Impression-visual observation->
It seemed that the rim of Mars shone in white, and looked white surroundings of the North Pole. When the NPS filter of SIRIUS OPTICS was used, it becomes easy to see the albedo features. When the MarsB filter of TeleVue was used, S0LIS PLANUM looked thick.

Seeing began very poor, but improved enough to get a few images later.
I note a large increase in the brightness and scope of the NPH in the past 48 hours.

I send you a Mars image from this morning - 2005/08/18 19:28 UT
Comments: Solis Lacus can be seen in detail, the volcanoes Tharsis and Mt.
Olympus Mons can also be seen. Seeing conditions were pretty rough during
the capture, though imaged @ 74fps using the LU075.

I think this is a good comparison between the Canon and ToUcam. The biggest advantage the ToUcam has is that I can remove the IR blocking filter and use an IR pass filter.
Attached is a short animation of Mars rotating between 7:40 and 8:50 UT, 8-18.
Clouds during some of the exposures forced me to abandon the color.

The fifth consecutive clear dawn in Suffolk produced an even better
result than that of the previous morning!
Seeing was mainly fair but with just one brief good period when the
best AVI was captured. This will be the last clear/stable morning
for a while as the High Pressure is now moving East.
Orion Optics 245mm f/6.3 Newt + 5x Powermate = f/42.
ATiK 1HS + Red & Blue filters. Seeing briefly good for the best AVI.
Transparency fair/poor (very misty). Temp + 12 C.
Processed in Registax 3/Maxim DL/PSPro 8.
Further details on the image.

Here are some Mars images from the 18th. A bright morning limb haze extends from Hellas, across Libya into the NPH. The haze surrounding the SPC remains prominent.
14" (35cm) Celestron SCT @ f/39.5.
Lumenera LU075M CCD camera.
Seeing fair-occ good (Pickering 5-7.) Deteriorated later.
Transparency good (4.0mag) mist/haze.
No wind. Heavy dew.

Seeing just fair with good transp (for a city), strange was that the ir image was far less in quality as the plain rgb image, the polar haze is visible

A second set with the Lumenera. Seeing was better. The parasites lines have been seriously minimised by shooting at 60 fps for R and G, with a stacking of 2000 frames each. The blue images are taken at 7,5 fps, as 60 fps isn't possible anymore.
