解説（安達）
日本からも、ダストストームの西側が少し記録できるようになった。ダスト
ストームの中心はアウロラエ(Aurorae Sinus;50W,-10)の南側にあり、最も明
るい部分を形成しいる。さらに南側に淡く拡がったダストが見える。移動した
ものかどうかは分からない。 P. Clay Sherrodはここ３日分の観測をまとめて
報告している。マリネリス渓谷に流れた方は広がりは見られない。
日本では、永長氏が記録に成功したが、気流が悪く、詳細は分からない。こ
れからは日本でも観測ができるようになるだろう。

It came to be able to record the west side of dust storm from Japan a
little. The center of dust storm is in the south of Aurorae Sinus
(50W,-10),and there is a formation ..the brightest part... In addition
dust that lightly extends to the south is seen. It is not understood
whether it is moving what. P. Clay Sherrod is reported bringing this
observation on the third together. As for the flow to the Marineris
valley,the extension is not seen.
The seeing is bad,and details are not understood though Einaga succeeded
in the record in Japan. Hereafter,Japan can observe it.

高度が高くなるにつれてシーイングも比較的回復してきた。モニター画像が明るくなりすぎないようｇｅｉｎとbrightnessをやや下げて撮影したのが功を奏した。細部
がこれまでになくよく写った。南極冠が非常に小さくなっている。雲の発生も確認できた。

コメント：ここのところ、シーイングが悪いことはもちろん、
雲が発生し、観測に支障を来たしている。
オリンポス山が確認できない。シレーンの海が判別
できるだけの状況です。
１０月２２日早朝、雨が降っていました。寒気の襲来
です。

熊野少年自然の家  ４５ｃｍカセグレンで撮影。  星は、わりとまたたいていたのだが、
seeingは、かなり良かった。  （海抜１８２ｍの所に位置しているためか？）
カラー画像は、撮影時のgainが低かったためか、縞模様が出てしまった。
SUBARU望遠鏡の画像（ＮＨＫで放送された）を思わせるような画像が、ディスプレイ上に
見えていました。

A cloudy day on Mars to say the least; under poor conditions and imaging through high
cirrus aiding in contrast and color,I was able to obtain an image that shows very
distinct coloration differences on major cloud activity on the Red Planet.  A very
interesting view.

The yellow dust storm seen on the CM has morphed greatly since Oct. 18 and 19 and now has
spread its way southward as can be easily noted in the full color and green images.  In
addition to this rapidly changing feature,note the very bright concentration (seen best
on the terminator) just preceding Mare Sirenum (far left on terminator).  Also there is a
remarkably bright blue concentration seen clearly very near the northern pole that is
likely associated with the thick northern polar haze seen through this longitudinal span.

More high blue clouds are suspected on the right limb,over the area of Solis Lacus,not
seen in full view this morning because of approaching earth clouds.

For those not having an attached image,you can access this on the ASO website from the
homepage (I believe that we have all links working now....sorry about the problem earlier
this week)


Series of three images,Oct. 18,19,20,showing the 36 hour rapid transformation,motion
and spreading of the dust cloud on Mars; although the seeing conditions have been quite
poor,the cloud can be followed in its transformation.

As my DMK21BF04 Firewire cam had to be sent back to manufacturer,this image
was made with my Philips ToUcam Pro.
Date: 20051020 at 21:18 UT (avi from 21:13 to 21:23,5 fr/s,500 frames
used).
LS 309.9,CM 260.9,Dia 19.9".
Transparancy variable 5-6 (drifting Cirrus),Seeing 5 to 7/10.
Only one avi could be taken before clouds prevented further imaging.
