解説（安達）
　日本から見たダストストームは気流状態が悪く、広がりの範囲がつかめるだ
けにとどまった。福井氏の画像ではソリス(Solis Lacus;90W,-25)の南方まで
迫っている様子が記録されている。 P. Clay Sherrodは発生時からの変化を整
理した画像も報告してきた。今回は、観測条件がアメリカで良かった。同じ人
が同じ条件で記録できたことはすばらしいことだ。ダストストームは発生した
後、南に移動している様に見えるが、どうやら違っているようだ。２０日に拡
がった南緯３０度のダストストームは東西に大きく拡がったが、さらに南の南
緯４５度に新たな光点が発生した。これら一連の姿は、毎日15度の大きさで南
に増加している。毎日、南に15度進んだ場所に光点が発生するパターンをくり
返しているようだ。また、今回は、西側にも１５度離れたソリスの横にも光点
が出ているが、これも同じパターンによるものと思われる。Alan Friedmanの
画像では、マリネリス渓谷が相変わらずダストで明るくなっている様子が記録
されている。渓谷内は気流が複雑で、ダストストームが落ち着くまでにはかな
りの時間がかかることを示している。Kolovos Dimitriosの画像は、非常にす
ばらしい。このイメージが撮れ続ければ、ダストストームの変化が詳しく記録

Dust storm seen from Japan became it because it understood the range
of the extension because the state of the seeing was bad. In the image
of Fukui, the appearance that approaches the south of Solis Lacus (90W,
-25) is recorded. P. Clay Sherrod also has reported also on the image
that arranges the change at the generated time. This time, the
observation condition was good in the United States. What the same
person was able to record on the same condition is wonderful.
Apparently, dust storm seems to be different though it seems to move
to the south after it is generated. Dust storm of 30° south that
extended on the 20th has extended from east to west greatly. And, a
new radiant was generated in 45° of the south south in addition.
These a series of appearances ..south.. increase by the width of 15
degrees of every day. It seems to repeat the pattern that the radiant
is generated in a place advanced toward the south 15 times every day.
Moreover, it seems that the one by the pattern as which this is the
same this time though the radiant has gone out next to Solis Lacus
away to the west side by 15 degrees. In the image of Alan Friedman,
the appearance where the Marineris valley has lightened by dust as
usual is recorded. It is shown to take considerable time by the time
the current of air is complex in the valley, and it settles down dust
 storm. The image of Kolovos Dimitrios is super-duper. If it keeps
being able to take this image, changing dust atorm will be recorded

気流が最悪で詳細は判らないが、ソリス付近が明るいのは確認できた。

The dust storm is spreading and beginning to segment and intensify in many areas on Mars;
a comparison of the past FOUR days will be posted soon but this image shows moments of
some fairly good seeing conditions over a period of about two hours.  The dust cloud is
undoubtedly quite yellow and perhaps is thickening in density as it spreads southward.


Please find attached a montage showing Mars near CM 50 or thereabouts for the past four
mornings, Oct. 18, 19, 20 and 21; the development, motion and distribution of the new
yellow dust storm can well be appreciated in this sequence.
