Alert for discontinuity on Venus's dayside in Jan.12,2019 by Javier Peralta (JAXA)

We have seen the cloud discontinuity on the nightside of Venus several hours ago from IRTF in Hawaii! Concretely, we visualized its transition to the morning terminator so it should be on the dayside already. Unfortunately, the discontinuity is in its weaker phase and more apparent on the northern hemisphere, so you will definitely need to acquire many images to perform stacking and have chances to watch it on the dayside. During the year 2016, we saw this feature with the camera IR1 of the orbiter Akatsuki, using images at 900 nm. So, if the discontinuity is visible on the dayside, it should be apparent using filters covering between 800 nm and 1000 nm (Methane 890nm filter or highpass filter should be ok). Please, let me know if any of you manage to make observations of the dayside middle clouds along the next 24 hours. This discontinuity propagates faster to the west than the rest of the clouds! -----------------------------------------------------------------
